While we were away this weekend my husband, M, was catching up on some sleep, which allowed me to do some reading (see below) and sneak in a viewing of The September Issue on hotel Pay-Per-View. R.J. Cutler’s documentary follows the creation of Vogue’s 2007 September issue, their biggest ever.
I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look the doc provided into the world of Vogue and its prominent figures such as Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington. It really is remarkable when you think of the impact Wintour and the magazine have on designers and fashion. It was great to see Wintour at home with her daughter - their relationship dynamic was compelling to me.
I also liked that Mario Testino, who is one of my favourite photographers, was included. Below is the January 2010 cover of Vogue shot by Testino and featuring Rachel McAdams.
Have you seen The September Issue? What are your thoughts?
