I always wish I had thick long luxurious hair instead of my actual hair which is extremely short, thin and fine. On the TV show Shear Genius, Wednesday nights at 10pm on Bravo network, the stylit were challenged to creat a hairstyle that used a lot of color. I wish I was in a rock band or something like that. If I did, I would like to have a wig like the top two looks shown here.

Project Runway Episode 3
Kenley won this week's challenge, which was to design a going-out outfit inspired by the sights of New York at night. Kenley is the cute girl who looks like a forties pinup doll. I love the colors of the dress but am not wild about the shape. I actually prefer Terry's pants suit, which was the second place outfit. I was not that impressed with most of the other dresses. Although I love the show, I think that some of the designers this season are somewhat irritating. There is one woman one always talks about how she only wants to design leather, rock-and-roll looks, and her voice sounds extremely whiny. Suade seems like a pleasant-enough chap, but I'm already tired of him talking about himself in the third person. It's already starting to seem like a gimmick. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next week.

{diaphanous}
What is it about yards and yards of gauzy, billowy, diaphanous fabric that so captures the imagination?

{travel: contemporary lodge, scotland}
. . . quite taken with interior designer Suzy Hoodless' Contemporary Lodge in Scotland, a perfect combination of modern and rustic, and then there's the view . . .
After last summer's trip to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and a haunting {and terribly romantic} boat ride on the loch in Inverness, have been drawn to the compelling beauty of Scotland as if under a spell . . .

New Eyeglasses?
Yesterday I went to Walmart to get an eye exam and found that my prescription has changed a bit. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend money on some new frames. I tried some on at Walmart, but they weren't up to my style standards, so I've been searching the internet for some frames I really like. The ones I like the best are from Christian Dior. These pictures are from bestbuyeyeglasses.com.

Suit-able for Dietrich
Marlene Dietrich was a major factor in making menswear looks popular for women. She wore a tuxedo and top hat in her first American film Morocco, made in 1930.
She continued to wear trouser suits off screen as well as on. Travis Banton designed many of them, which she would wear with a man's shirt and tie and a fedora style hat. No one but Marlene could manage to look so feminine in such severe styles.
We just listed this 1940's tuxedo style suit at our site. Certainly Dietrich worthy, it will look great with or without that shirt and tie!
See this suit and more at Couture Allure Vintage Fashion.

Nicole Richie at Granville Towers
Nicole Richie was caught by the paparazzi at Granville Towers in Hollywood, on July 28, and doesn't seem to be too pleased about it. Starting with a striped shirt over a white tee and a pair of Jet skinny jeans, Miss Richie also chose her Havaianas flip flops, Chanel sunglasses and a Balenciaga bag.

{almost like floating}
Have been trying desparately to find time to play with photography again, and every time I want to see the world through a lens, I find myself drawn to this Vogue IT shoot by Paolo Roversi.
A simple blank canvas . . . blissful, soft and ethereal lighting, and a quiet serenity that is almost like floating . . .

I Am in Love with Irving Schechter
And I don't know who he is! This 1940's suit jacket makes my heart swoon. The label says "Irving Schechter Original of California" and I can't find any information about it. But if you know Irving, please tell him I love him.
