{style inspiration: pretty polka dots}

. . . the boldest colour ever worn was perhaps an iridescent turquoise raw silk blouse with pretty sleeves; and with that exception, nearly always classic black, crisp white and every shade of pale & pretty neutral imaginable, from fluttery nude to blush and champagne -- that is, before happening upon navy and polka dots, with a dash of perfect red for that elegant and effortless parisian je ne sais quoi . . .

Illustrator: Jason Holley

 Jason Holley is an illustrator and art teacher at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I am quite fond of these prints of his, I especially adore his "The Newest Indians." There is quite a bit of charm and depth to his little subjects, he obviously has a lot of respect for nature and science.

. . . one of the best things about winter is that things seem to slow down a little, the overcast skies and shorter days inspiring less time traipsing about, and more cozy and candlelit nights at home, and rather than spend the rest of january and february whiling away the days until spring, shall spend more time in moments of repose and pretty lacy things, to plot and plan and dream . . .

. . . one of the many new year's resolutions for this year is to work less & play more, and for the office, a perfect mix of tweed blazers and silk scarves, pretty cardigans and structured handbags, secretary blouses and strappy peeptoes -- and for the weekend -- nautical stripes and sexy shades for an afternoon at the beach . . .
