My Creative Space

This week I'm taking part in Kootoyoo's my Creative Space.

I transformed an ugly old box into some pretty storage for my art supplies using some leftover paint.

It was the simplest thing to do and only took about 15 minutes, but there's something really satisfying about being able to pretti-fy something with things that you already have kicking around at home.

Before and After

Here's another Before and After that I worked on in July. I got inspiration from this blog via Design*Sponge. I found this magazine table back in April, just sitting on my street.

I started by sanding it down.

Priming it and then painting it with white paint

I chose one of my favourite wrapping papers from Oliver Bonas, and cut it to size to stick on top with PVA wood glue

Then used two coats of varnish to protect it

Then I decided to use it to store my shoes, which are usually dumped in a pile in the corner of my room!

Skip stool: before and after

My Mum practically screamed at me when I dragged, into the kitchen, this stool that I found in a skip, gaffa tape, stuck on feathers and all. "Why on Earth would you want that disgusting stool?!"

Costing:

Paint (Designers Guild): left over from room, £0.00

Stool: found in skip, £0.00

Fabric: Ikea, £3.50 for 2 metres

TOTAL: £3.50

I might be blogging tomorrow, if not, I'm off to the south of France for two weeks so won't be blogging until after the 23rd. Happy August.
