. . . would, perhaps, change the paisley to crisp, white linens, but adore the charming plaid floor and can hardly tear away from the vibrantly painted bedside table and perfect bouquet of roses . . .

{p.s.} wouldn't this room be lovely in a quaint countryside cottage?

{summertime & little luxuries}

. . . the way the early morning light glimmers off the faceted crystals of a chandelier, the warm slant of sunlight on a perfect reading corner and a bouquet of coral-coloured roses, fresh baguettes for brunch and an early evening glass of rosé -- the days are much longer now and the bright mornings are filled with the music of a million birds -- it's summertime, summertime, and every moment feels like a luxury . . .

{two lovely things: secret gardens & on the terrace}

. . . late-spring rain and blustery breezes, and lately there are fallen petals everywhere -- between the cobblestones, and winter-worn fountains, on boxwood hedges and in secret gardens -- and the scent of freshly picked roses in etched glass vases and beautiful bouquets of lilies of the valley are enough to make one wish for every morning on the terrace . . .

{beautiful bouquets & late-spring musings}

. . . yesterday was one of those perfect spring days with all the windows and doors thrown extravagantly open, and one could step out in open-toed sandals and a trench, the sleeves thrown up in casual elegance à la nine de la fressange, the air filled with the scent of daffodils and magnolia blossoms and the sun warming shoulders and thoughts . . .

. . . a very favourite blogger collaboration must be alix from the cherry blossom's girl's with french lingerie company étam -- the pieces are so perfectly pretty and draped in sheer romance, it's nearly impossible not to be swept up in the delicate ruffles, elegant lace, and powdery whisps of chiffon . . .

{décor inspiration: mirrored vanities}

. . . mirrored beside tables & shoe displays, desks, consoles, and even coffee carafes and shoes . . . as with chandeliers and bits of gold, there is something about mirrors that add such elegance, and while vanities have always been ultra-glamorous, when mirrored, things are elevated to another level entirely. . .

. . . for the weekend, a perfect bar cart with cut crystal decanters, gilt frames and fuchsia roses, champagne and cobalt stemware . . . and flowers in your hair . . .

{a glossary of rose fragrances}

. . . at this moment, there are beautiful bouquets of roses everywhere, creating a perfumed oasis with a million softly luxurious scents lingering in the air, and during these moments, am reminded of martha stewart's glossary or rose fragrances -- there are modern roses and climbing roses, hybrid tea roses and old garden roses, and whether light or heady, vanilla or musk, always fascinating to read about the different varieties, and about how each rose's scent varies with the weather and time of day, strongest on mild and somewhat humid mornings, and fading or changing as the hours pass by . . .

. . . one of those weeks that whirled by with a flourish, and in the midst of plans and appointments, there were little moments of inspiration -- thoughtful comments & lovely tweets and perhaps one of the most beautiful letters ever received {from a wonderful reader in australia}, and have always known that those who stop by here {& here} for a visit each day are some of the loveliest people ever, but this week , especially so, and it has been said that love makes the world go round, so let us send as much as we can to those who need it most . . .
