. . . yesterday was one of those perfect spring days with all the windows and doors thrown extravagantly open, and one could step out in open-toed sandals and a trench, the sleeves thrown up in casual elegance à la nine de la fressange, the air filled with the scent of daffodils and magnolia blossoms and the sun warming shoulders and thoughts . . .
