{things to look forward to}

. . . with next week's trip to paris and valentine's day quickly approaching, there many beautiful things to look forward to, and a feeling of magic in the air and an excitement uncontained -- but at this moment, can think of nothing lovelier than to fall into a luxurious pile of bright velvet pillows, or become utterly lost in the scent of a thousand perfectly pink roses . . .

. . . afternoons are still wonderfully bright, but evenings are beginning to arrive earlier, and with them, a surprising briskness to unaccustomed summer skin, and already this past weekend, faux fur stoles and soft cashmere scarves and the longing for luxuriously warm textures, velvet and tweed and satin-trimmed coverlets -- and even warmer hues and tones, featherstone and champagne and deliriously lovely shades of dusky taupe . . .

{two lovely things:} whether a dreamily cozy reading corner or a wonderfully elegant dinner party, always drawn to that perfect shade of champagne, more lovely with utterly romantic bits of lace . . .

{p.s.} isn't it a brilliant idea to combine glass dinner plates and beautifully handwritten doilies as place cards?

{thoughts on a rainy afternoon}

. . . a drizzly, foggy afternoon on one of those weeks where a million things are happening at once, and today is e-mails, projects, deadlines and out the door for a late lunch, but wanted to say a quick hello -- and shall return later today with some perfectly exciting news . . .
