Party Girl
Loving the frills and balloons of this lovely skirt. It reminds me of my gumball machine
halloween costume as a kid. Awesome.
But really, whether you are a party child or anti-social, you have to admit that in your own secret world, tons of golden glitter, streamers, colorful confetti, paper hearts and airy balloons would be absolutely delightful.

July 4th: Party Craft Idea Tutorials and Recipes
patriotic star garland tutorial
We watched fireworks already tonight with friends and family, and I hope that yours will be fun and safe. I love these ideas from Martha Stewart and Better Homes and Gardens for crafts, food and decorating.
I really feel that a brush up on history to help with the celebration of the holiday is essential though.
Most of these ideas can be done in any shape or color for a variety of events. Have fun!

Camping Theme Party
I am helping do some centerpieces for a camp themed activity this weekend. Materials we will use include anything we can find on a nature walk or already own, with some little handmade paper tents, (and here) Sticks, moss, river rocks, pine cones, nests, woodland creature figurines, feathers, little compasses, lanterns...
The boys will have fun going on a nature walk, and I will enjoy preoccupying my mind from other things going on in our lives I would rather not obsess over.

Smores trees how to
I was thinking of taking plain soup/veggie/fruit cans, cleaning them out and filling them with sticks topped with marshmallows, like so smores-y, right? The budget is pretty limited, so we'll see how it turns out, but I think this could be cheap, easy and cute. But for now, some more lovely ideas.
More woodsy theme ideas and menu ideas here.
I'll try and remember to take pics of what we come up with next week! Any other ideas would be helpful.

A Very Happy Unbirthday
It was my son's birthday this past weekend and we of course, decorated for him. He wakes up every morning still thinking it's his birthday because some of the streamers are still up. I like giving him a little bit of excitement over holiday decorating magic, so I gradually take decorations down.

So, what kinds of party festivities can go year round, without being too party like? The above tree branch with ornaments, I believe is an old Christmas idea, but imagine changing the ornaments throughout the seasons. Starfish, little burlap or vintage fabric potpourri filled hearts, berry garlands, large chandelier prisms, hand sewn birds... so many easy and affordable options for a natural statement piece!
This streamer curtain idea wouldn't last longer than a few hours in my home, but maybe your little girl (or craft office space) could use a little sprucing! Wouldn't it look lovely in pales shades of creme, white and soft grey? It is super cheap and takes minutes, instructions here. ps, love the unicorn picture, haven't seen anything like that since the 80's, I'm pretty sure it says "Believe Your Dreams"!

I saw this home in a magazine a few years ago and had to post them! Her home had a gorgeous mad scientist feel to it. This was the design that first opened my eyes to the elegant side of Halloween decorating. Love her use of cloches, crowsm spider webs and vintage finds.
