. . . the morning began with coffee and balmy late-spring breezes, water fountains and farmers' markets for butter tarts and honey, meetings & appointments and a late-lunch of barbequed salmon & asparagus, and now, emails and macarons and a little tea and the days have been so sunny lately, can hardly stand it . . .

. . . have been a little obsessed with wallpapered cabinets for as long as can remember {recently here & here}, and even came across an extensive china cabinet that was papered and cleverly reconfigured as a display case for shoes, and ever since, have fallen more in love, and so, utterly delighted to come across interior designer amy, from the blog maison decor's, beautiful makeover of a french provincial china cabinet . . .

. . . two lovely things: wallpapered cabinets & beautiful bunches of narcissi and it's beginning to look a lot like spring . . .

. . . while lately have been favouring wallpapered cabinets, {especially in romantic spring florals}, had forgotten how classically beautiful shades of onyx and midnight can be for showcasing stacks of beautiful books and antiques, or a collection of everyday dishware and fine china, and adore how strikingly lovely the palest pink of the roses and stacks of gold-rimmed teacups look against such a background . . .

. . . there is something so wonderfully absorbing about this room -- the luxuriously rich colours and mix of patterns & textures -- perhaps it is the royal blue silk settee and elegant leopard print walls, the dazzling chandelier and bits of gold, the dusky streams of light and beautifully set table for two, or perhaps is is a combination of all these things . . .

. . . happened across florence & florence, an utterly charming vintage shop run by mother and daughter, christine and annie florence, who have a love for beautiful things and "specialise in finding exciting second-hand pieces", filling their little shop with delicate glass compotes and filigreed pepper pots befitting the most elegantly extravagant dinner party on a mid-spring evening, scalloped cake stands and silver sugar tongs perfect for high-tea on a sunday afternoon, and tea & cake sets that will have you dreaming of the most romantic early april picnics . . .

{hello from paris}

. . . hello! . . . things have been rather sporadic around here this week, with valentine's day on monday, finishing projects, last-minute preparations, and an ever-overflowing stream of emails, but most excitingly, cases to pack and a flight to catch, and now, a few beautiful days in paris . . .

uncertain when there next will be a moment to say hello, and so, for now, a fond farewell and à la prochaine,

{home inspiration: turebyholm castle, denmark}

. . . today, it's whisked away by the grandeur and light of this stunning rococo castle in the sprawling danish countryside -- built in 1754, it is utterly filled with a perfect mix of art deco and modern italian furniture designs, exquisite antiques and hand printed silk wallpaper, gilt wood wall panels and gold-rimmed china, intermingling beautifully with spectacularly ornate mirrors and glittering chandeliers . . .

{pure romance: a tiny victorian cottage}

. . . nearly impossible not to be utterly captivated by this perfectly tiny and devastatingly romantic victorian cottage in the catskills, all draped in netting and dusky white and overflowing with ruffly bed linens and silver tea services, antique mirrors and chandeliers, and limoges china patterned in tiny rosebuds -- an enchanting summery retreat for long and luxurious afternoons spent dreaming, dreaming to the soft sounds of a sunlit stream . . .

Homefront: Vintage China Plate Collection

 

I have been wanting to make a little plate wall. All of the plates I find are small little vintage china floral rimed dishes, and though I love them, I would love to get my little hands on some colorful Mable's House bird style plates!

But really, the white satiates my need for a clean uncluttered look, a la Nester Style, and the floral detailing adds a subtle pop of color that I lean to at times. So, it's a win-win, I suppose, with my ever changing mind.

 One last mission, finding plate wall hangers. They elude me no matter where I go, always sold out, on the verge of extinction. Which is interesting as my plate collection tends to multiply and replenish a stack on my countertop. And at 65 cents a dish, it's easy to see how that could happen.

Do you have some type of project or collection that is starting to take over? I think, maybe if I go to my calendar,. and write a specific date on when it should be complete... perhaps it will help me make my goal.

ps.. in case you are wondering about my lovely new table cloth... it is actually a vintage bed sheet that I fold in half and throw on the table. It's so pretty, how could I not? I'll show pics of it in action soon enough.
