Gossip Girl 'Damien Darko' Episode & Fashion Recap

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this episode.

Blair and Dan battling it out over...W. Really, Dan? Since when?

Eric and...Damien?! Really? Since when?

Not loving the Chuck and Raina storyline.
All I can hope is that he successfully uses her to
wrestle Bass Industries from her daddy.

Rufus offers Ben his loft. Dude.

This cannot end well.

Watching Ben be all rage-y with Damien just made me wonder how crazy he'll be when Serena dumps him, as she invariably will the minute he's no longer a man she should be staying away from.

Blair's new boss at W is wearing a blazer by Anne Valerie Hash
Shirt - Parker
Cuff - Alexis Bittar
Skirt - Marc by Marc Jacobs
Tights - Hue
Shoes - Zara

Blair wears a white coat by Cesare Paciotti to W
along with a Bensoni dress and DKNY tights.
Blazer and Bag - Valentino
Cuff - Medium Encrusted Reverse Crystal Bracelet

Blair's black one-shouldered rosette dress is by BCBG Max Azria.
Dan's suit is by Theory.

Blair's Earrings and Cuff - Sequin

Raina is wearing a black Jay Godfrey dress and Sergio
Rossi shoes. She also carries a Cartier bag in the episode.

Chuck also wears a Theory suit with Prada shoes,
a Raf Simons shirt and Burma Bibas tie.

I loved this outfit that Blair wore during her
triumphant return to the W offices.
Cardigan - Valentino
Blouse - Usai
Belt - Salvatore Ferragamo
Necklace - J. Lingnau

The black dress Serena wore to the party
was from Louis Vuitton's 2010 Resort collection.

Serena's snowflake blouse was D+G Fall 2010.
Blair's floral print pyjamas were by Natori.

Pretty Little Liars 'Be Careful What U Wish 4' Episode & Fashion Recap

My Gossip Girl episode recaps and fashion posts seem to be pretty popular, so I figured I'd try out a Pretty Little Liars post as well. Monday has pretty much shaped up to be my TV night, with both GG and PLL keeping me entertained.

When we saw them last the Fantastic Foursome had just viewed the video of Alison and Ian that had mysteriously appeared on Spencer's laptop. Of course, instead of hot footing it over to the police station they wring their hands, plan, argue and scheme until someone (we presume Ian who walked right into the room while his face was plastered on the laptop screen) steals the laptop and erases the video. I know these kinds of shows need to create suspense and drama, but seriously, the four of them together could not be that stupid.

Also this episode:

We're introduced to mysterious bad boy Caleb.
I like him. I think he likes Emily.

Emily thinks that Maya has moved on.
Or has been brainwashed by the nature camp people.

Hanna dances for dollars. Well, A offers her a hell of a lot of money to dance with Lucas. Hanna feels awful because she knows how Lucas feels about her. Hanna's boyfriend breaks up with her. Hanna and Lucas just need to get together already and thwart A's evil plan.

Aria is jealous of her old babysitter who is visiting from New York and crushing on Mr. Fitz. I mean, she's published and Mr. Fitz can hold her hand in public! How can Aria compete? Mr. Fitz assures Aria that she doesn't need to compete, she's the one he loves. They almost kiss, then they remember that they are at the school dance and stop themselves.

I thought this episode was pretty good and entertaining,
except for the contrived stupidity of the Foursome.

And now for the Pretty Little Liars fashion rundown...

I really liked Hanna's Madison Marcus green beaded tee.
Admittedly it might be a bit much for daytime at a high school,
but that's why I love these shows.
Jacket - Bebe
Leggings - Trouve
Boots - Guess
Bracelet - Marc Jacobs

Spencer's purple jacket by We the Free
Shirt - Zara
Tie - Commodore
Skirt - French Connection
Tights - Hue
Boots - Louboutin

Aria's Cropped Heart Tee by Laugh Cry Repeat by AZFN
Suspender Shorts - Club Monaco
Boots - Guess
Necklace - Juicy Couture
Bracelet - Nicolina Royale
Earrings - Stylist's Own

I think Aria looked fab in her black lace Porcelain dress (great back).
Slip - American Apparel
Jacket - Zara Basic
Shoes - Guess by Marciano
Bracelets - J. Crew and Fossil

Looooved Aria's Rachel Roy earrings

Spencer's Joie dress was sophisticated and a great colour.
Shoes - Zara TRF Pumps

I was really feeling the accessories this episode including Spencer's
Tarnish necklace (I actually bought my mom an almost identical
necklace as part of her Christmas gift) and her sparkly-in-the-back
Jasper and Jeera belt (sorry for the blurry screencap!)

Hanna's Floral Pencil Dress and Belt - Betsey Johnson
Shoes - Coach

Emily's dress by Aqua
Boots - Born Crown
Necklace - Urban Outfitters

Do you watch Pretty Little Liars?
Did you catch this episode? Thoughts?
Fave outfit?
My, I'm full of questions, aren't I!

Broken Roads & Hope

I was listening to a certain Rascal Flatts song this past week. Its a song I've heard so much that I tune it out automatically, but for some reason a phrase caught my attention and got me thinking...this song really does speak volumes to the truth.

Others who broke my heart, they were like Northern Stars, leading me on my way into your loving arms. God blessed the broken road, that led me straight to you.
Each time we fall, we get back up, we keep hoping. Why is that? Are we all just habitual masochists? Maybe. Or maybe we know its worth the journey. With every heartbreak we are one heartbreak closer to being done. With every guy who doesn't call, we need'nt worry, we've just narrowed it down one more. Stood up, overlooked, moved on...out, out, out.

{merci weheartit}

Although it may hurt (and you should never deny that), we heal ourselves, brush ourselves off and keep on swimming. Because we have to, because that one fish is out there, swimming in circles, just as lost as we are.

Here's to broken roads...cheers.

Hats for Spring - 1957

I'm feeling trapped. The snowbanks are higher than my waist, the driveway is getting narrower and narrower, and I am generally sick to death of winter. It's so cold, the inner harbor is frozen over. Someone remind me why I live in Boston?

To combat the winter blues and blahs this week, let's look at some goodies for spring so that we can start to dream of balmier weather. And for those of you living in warmer climates right now, I am officially jealous!

Today, spring hats from 1957. Just looking at hats lifts my mood. How about you?

Rose Valois forms a double bandeaux of rose petals.

Pierre Balmain wide brim straw hat.

Ruban flower petal cap with dramatic face veil.

Albouy uses metallic mesh and tops it with a rose.

Gilbert Orcel blue and white stripe silk.

SAG Awards 2011 Fashion Rundown: Red, White and Sofia's Blue

I didn't watch the SAG Awards tonight, but I did go online to devour pictures of what everyone was wearing. The first thing I noticed was the proliferation of red and white, along with ponytails and belts. I also liked that several actresses went for looser, more relaxed dresses as well as shorter hemlines. I think an event like the SAG Awards doesn't have to be as buttoned-up as the Oscars. Here are my thoughts...

Mila's red McQueen reminds me of a floral Elie Saab that Rachel McAdams wore to the Oscars awhile back. Regardless, I liked Mila's dress. Relaxed, flirty and young, this dress was perfect for Mila.

One thing Sofia Vergara knows how to do well is set the red carpet on fire. I adore the colour of this Cavalli and the way it hugs her body is just beyond. Goddess. Plus I love the Chopard jewels.

I liked Dianna Argon in this ankle-length Chanel Haute Couture gown.
She's a gorgeous girl, even if her eye make-up was a bit on the heavy side.

I think Jane Krakowski is adorable and she shines in her
sequined Badgley Mischka. Another short dress winner.

Rosario Dawson looks fresh and pretty in this
pale lemon J. Mendel. Love the accessories,
especially the brightly coloured earrings.

I've never been a huge fan of red-on-red-carpet but I love Tina Fey and she's been doing so much better as of late so I will give this Oscar de la Renta a win. It fits her beautifully.

Helena Bonham Carter's shoes match. Win.

I'm on the fence about January's Carolina Herrera.
An improvement on the recent Versaces, anyway.

Nude and Neutrals

Angie Harmon likely won't ever make it to the Oscars so it was fitting that she pulled out the Monique Lhuillier princess gown for the SAGs. Angie has the height and figure to pull off this kind of whimsical, feathered dress (very Penelope Cruz-esque), which I think stops just short of Big Bird territory.

Hilary Swank's Versace is pretty, but I think the colour makes it look a bit blah. I'm thinking it might have read different on camera. I'm torn on this one. I liked that her clutch matched her sequins, too.

More nude neutrals. Jayma Mays' drapey Jenny
Packham suits her skin tone, though.

Glee's Heather Morris also went for neutral--and feathers.
She looks pretty and romantic in this Romona Keveza,
and out of her cheerleader uniform.

I liked the shorter lengths we saw on this red carpet and Modern Family's Ariel Winter looked great in her vintage-inspired dress. Pretty and age appropriate.

White is Right

I think Lea Michele was the best dressed in the white brigade in this Oscar de la Renta. Less stiff than the gowns we usually see her in, I'm liking the more relaxed style on her.

I'm undecided about Amy Adams' Hervé L. Leroux.
If I just had a baby and had a body like that I'd likely want
to show the whole world, too, but something about it just
looks uncomfortable and unnatural. Maybe the stark colour.

Okay, Eva, you know I think you're gorgeous. You know I'm all for Tony Parker weeping in a corner, but I'm going to say this just once: If your dress' draping lets me see your boobs you're trying too hard.  I think if this Georges Hobeika didn't have such a dramatic neckline I'd like it more, as is I'm afraid she's going to fall out of it.

Not loving Natalie in Azzaro with Vivier clutch.
The more I look at this dress, I think the top is pretty.
I think it's her helmet hair that is throwing me off.

So Winona went for the crazed ballerina look.
Appropriate, I suppose.

Yawn

Julianna's YSL looks like a bridesmaid dress to me.
And, again, I've never been a huge fan of red on
red carpets. Beautiful Bavna earrings, though.

Pretty colour but Sarah Hyland in Max Mara
looks like Bridesmaid No. 2.

This Thierry Mugler just feels so heavy in contrast.
And kinda boring.

 Not Loving

Jennifer Lawrence clashes with the carpet and
all those drapey things are distracting. I can't
even believe this is a de la Renta. Just, no.

O.M.G. I'm blind.
Hailee is adorable but her Prada is not.

Someone please buy Christina Hendricks (in L'Wren Scott) a mirror.
This is, what? Her twentieth bad red carpet dress in a row?
I've had about all I can take.

I'm not getting Nicole's Nina Ricci.
And to me that Fred Leighton necklace
doesn't suit the dress' neckline.

Not loving Claire Danes' Vuitton.
Especially that frilly stuff around the bust.

Didn't they already have Miss America this year?
Somebody forgot to give Kim the memo.

What were your fave red carpet looks?
Least faves?
