Seven Days of Giveaways: Happy Deliveries.

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED

I was instantly attracted to the prints produced by Happy Deliveries. Mostly in stark black and white, they're a little bit vintage, a little bit industrial and a whole lot chic, not to mention they each carry a great reminder or message. Created by Lori, who first discovered letterpress in 2007, Happy Deliveries. is a shop whose name was inspired by her son who would wake her up each morning, toy in hand, with the exclamation "Happy Deliveries!" It was the kind of happiness and excitement that Lori wanted to give people through her art and when she created her shop in 2009, Happy Deliveries. seemed the perfect moniker.

Lori admits that after obtaining her first press machine, a 3 x 5 Kelsey tabletop (with many more soon to follow), her need for letterpress equipment became "somewhat of an obsession, in a good way." Drawn to
"simple, bold designs created with antique wood type and ink," Lori set about creating a body of work that has made her very popular in Etsy land. While the majority of Happy Deliveries. products are in black and white Lori admits to being increasingly intrigued by experiments involving colour. All Happy Deliveries. products are made using lead or wood type or antique printing blocks with linoleum block carvings on the horizon. With a collection that includes prints, cards and mixed wood products and contains uplifting messages ranging from "Live Your Passion" to "Joy Rising," Happy Deliveries. would be a great addition to any home or office.

You know me, I love the chartreuse!

Chic black and white cards with coloured envelopes--love the zebra lining!

I'm so excited to be able to extend Lori's super generous offer to you--one lucky reader will win not one but two Happy Deliveries. products! That's right, enter now for your chance to win the Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much (Set of Three) prints as well a pack of 5 Earthy XOXO Cards!

Lanvin for H&M, The Shore and Rue Magazine

I tweeted about it yesterday, so excited! It is on...
November 20th! Who else can't wait?

And did anyone else watch Jersey Shore last night? We were joking last week that a drinking game involving the word "done" would work well. At this point I think I would be in a drunken stupor with alcohol poisoning. Suffice it to say I think like Ronnie has acted like a jerk supreme this season--not really his style, it seems--but Sami is so annoying I can't even muster up any sympathy for her. I can't believe how she's treating Jenni and Snooki...I guess some people have to play the victim 24/7. I'm loving how Vinny is coming out of his shell this season and Angelina...ick. Just ick.

Oh, and check out this great preview of Rue Magazine, which can be found on Style Me Pretty. I'm so excited to see the finished product!

Friday Charm School - How to Sit Like a Lady Part 2

Welcome to Friday Charm School! Today we'll continue practicing sitting like a lady while adding more detailed skills so you'll always look graceful and at ease. Did you become comfortable with sitting down and getting up from a chair this week? If so, let's add some more rules.

While seated, arrange your legs at a slight angle to avoid looking to square and boyish. This will give a more fluid line to the body. You want to subtly draw attention to the curves of your legs. Cross your legs at the ankles or knees.

The more relaxed and quiet your hands look, the better. Let one hand rest easily in the other in your lap, or drape one elbow over the back of the chair and let your hand relax. When shifting positions for comfort, do so slowly and gracefully.

If you are sitting in a slim skirt, you may have to sit a bit more forward in the chair to keep your knees discreetly covered. If you are sitting in a full skirt, place your hand behind you and grasp the center back of the skirt. Bring the skirt out to one side before you sit down.

When sitting on the floor, fold your legs to one side. Your good posture will be a big help here!

Sitting No-Nos:

- Don't sit stiffly with feet and knees in the center. You'll look like a frightened child.
- Don't fidget with your hands. Don't smooth your skirt, play with your jewelry, touch your face, or fuss with your hair. Remember, quiet repose communicates more than words.
- Keep your hands relaxed and still. Avoid clenching, scratching, and twiddling.
- Avoid slouching. Your back should remain erect no matter what you are sitting on.
- Never sit with your legs stretched out in front of you, even when wearing slacks. This look is too mannish.
- If you have heavy legs, cross them at the ankles, not the knees.

Homefront: Figuring Out a Large Brick Wall Living Room

I really can't believe we've been living here for a month now. So, this is what you see when you walk into our home. A big, huge, fireplace. The paint color, I do like. The fireplace... I would love to paint it white, but can't since we're renting. Those pictures will be going up on the walls, but, what can I do with this space? I'd love to hang a mirror, but there aren't any holes, and I don't think the landlord would be thrilled with us drilling holes in a brick wall. It's just so dark and heavy feeling.

The dining area is filled with boxes and our armoir is being used as a pantry. I can't wait to paint that thing!

This, is the other side of the room.  I love how the chair rail, just kind of stops right there at the end of the dining room. ha! Cute little lamp complete with Nester tassel... though I feel this lamp is too short here.

I'm thinking doing my gallery wall again... but I would have to spread it out somehow because this wall is so much longer than my last one and can fit two couches here. Because the room is shaped like a triangle, I can't quite figure out how to lay everything out. The couches are facing our tv in a triangle like way.

The tv is kind of caddywampus from the couches and fireplace. It is in the weird little corner off the entrance to the house. I can't really put art above it b/c the way it sits angled in the corner. Trying to figure this one out... I'm thinking of moving it in the dining section where the armoir is and putting the couches L shape to that.

I do feel this room needs an area rug, and a nice giant coffee table, but it's kind of triangular shaped. Maybe a round rug would work in here? Next up, add some drapes... I have my natural khaki colored ones, I really think they would be pretty dyed a charcoal gray, but I have no clue how to do that. I have family coming to visit this weekend, so I'll see what I can do before all arrive.  So, what do you all think about what I can do with this space?
