Liam Gallagher's back...

It's been two years since Oasis split up, and not much has happened, music-wise. Yes, there was the incident of Liam throwing his Brit award and microphone into the crowd, and of course the digs at his brother, so same old same old.

Well, Gallagher Jr. has been busy working at his debut album with his new band, Eagle Eye. So far only one song has been released, "Bring the Light".

Now, it is biased for me to judge the song, me being an Oasis junkie, but I think I'll throw in my two cents. The barrelhouse piano riff and the general fast pace of the song sounds a bit forced. When one thinks of Liam, one thinks of songs drowned in layers of guitar, and that sneery vocal that we all know of "Wonderwall".

In "Bring the Light", the whole sloppiness just comes across as mechanic and planned, not the style of rock 'n' roll they were trying to imitate. It has a strong resemblance to the Velvet Underground's song "White Light" which is the real deal when it comes to rock 'n' roll, just without the cool.
All in all, "Bring the Light" sounds mainly like a tribute to the long-gone era.
Look, I'm not here to bash it to pieces, I don't find the song bad at all, I just think, that after Oasis, it's a bit of a disappointment.

But, who am I to judge. Give it a listen here and be sure to leave your opinion below.
