Carpet bags

I have wanted a carpet bag for about a year now. It has been a long search! I just love Mary Poppins' bag from the film (a childhood favourite of mine) so much:

They are just so pretty and have such a nice vintage look. They are also very handy for a weekend/ overnight bag. Originally I was looking at Ebay for a carpet bag as they have a great range of vintage ones. However, Ebay does scare me a bit as I have never used it before (yes I know, I really need to start!).

And last week I was happily looking through the ASOS website, as you will often find me doing, when I came across this beautiful holdall...
... and bought it almost right away! And now it is sitting next to me in all its glory :) It was exactly what I had been looking for and I knew I could trust a website like ASOS. I really recommend it - it is a great size, and has a more modern feel to it too as it has a glittery thread running through it. If you are looking for a carpet bag then I came across a couple of others from Urban Outfitters: You can get it in different colours too! But I do recommend Ebay for a more traditional, real vintage one. Also looking through charity shops and places like Portobello or Brick Lane in London would be great for lovely old carpet bags. My friend always seems to come up with gems, but I really am terrible at charity shopping - I think there's an art to it!
